This page answers many of the common questions we get asked around our portal cabin hire service.

You will need approximately 5m x 3m of reasonably level ground (our cabins can sit on uneven terrain). Allow at least 3.3m in height. If you’re unsure, site checks are available in some areas. Please contact us to learn how we can help.

Entry access should be a minimum of 2.7m wide so the cabin can be towed onto your site. If access is too narrow or otherwise difficult, we can arrange a hiab to lift our cabin over most obstacles, such as carports, fences, and retaining walls. Note: deliveries that require a hiab will incur an additional delivery charge. Allow at least 3.3m height clearance (from trees, powerlines or house eaves) at the position of your cabin.

Delivery is FREE within Te Puke, Papamoa and Mt Maunganui. Other regions in the Western Bay of Plenty area will incur a delivery charge. We do not deliver to or service areas outside of the Bay of Plenty region.

Yes, the bond is $200. At the end of the hire, when the cabin is returned in the same quality condition that it was delivered in, your bond will be refunded.

Yes, the standard minimum rental term is 26 weeks (6 months). Shorter terms can be negotiated by prior arrangement only.

Minimum hire is six (6) months. Four (4) weeks notice (by either party) must be given and acknowledged in writing. If you need to cancel your hire within the six month minimum hire period, and early termination fee of up to two (2) months rental payment + GST may be charged.

No, Diamond Cabins is a hire-only business.

We supply a 15m heavy duty caravan power lead with your cabin. This can be plugged into any normal three-pin power point in your home (or, if you are building, you can use the builder’s pole/box).

Each cabin has two double power points, two internal lights and one exterior light. All our cabins come with an Electrical Warrant of Fitness, a switchboard and smoke alarm for your safety and protection.

Yes, all cabins are fully painted, inside and out. You have a choice of two exterior colours: charcoal and white. All cabins are painted white on the interior.

Yes, they are fixed to the building. We just remove the drawbar so it does not get in your way and also optimises your available space.

Our cabins are painted white and come complete with a durable carpet to create a warm and comfortable space.

You will need to give us at least 4 weeks’ notice. We will arrange a collection date that is suitable for all parties. There is no collection fee. Your bond will be refunded provided you return your cabin in the same quality condition it was delivered in.

At the time of publication, the Bay of Plenty Regional Council does not require building consent for these removable cabins. Please note that Council laws are subject to change over time, and mitigating circumstances may impact whether or not building consent is required. If you are unsure, please contact the Bay of Plenty Regional Council for advice.
